Christmas is rapidly approaching so I thought it was time for an update.

1. REHEARSALS - only two left before Christmas, on Wednesdays 15th and 22nd December, 7.30pm in the church. Please make every effort to come to both.

2. This Wednesday, 8th December, there is an evening mass for Immaculate Conception at which the choir will be singing; all very easy, well-known music so please come along.

3. CHRISTMAS - solos this year will be O Holy Night, Christmas Hath A Darkness and What Kind Of Greatness

Hi everyone,

Here is the news:

1. REHEARSALS are now back in action, Wednesdays at 7.30pm in the church

2. FORTHCOMING EVENTS: 30th/31st October - All Saints; 6th November - Bishop Richard Noth visiting, celebrating 6.00pm mass; 13th/14th November - Remembrance Sunday

3. Chris is leaving the choir, moving into London, and currently his last weekend will be 30th/31st October. However, he will then do one more rehearsal after that and will be back for Christmas!

There is no excuse for the lack of updates on this site other than my neglect of my duties! I hope you've all enjoyed the summer (and the late resurgence of it we're currently having); I know some people are now having a late break but in the next week or two we should be back to full strength.

On Sunday 11th July Chris will be running the British 10k around London in aid of Indian charity Dream A Dream - if you are able to make any donation please click through below (also for more info about the organisation). Thank you!

Well done and thanks to all for the hard work today! It's been a wonderful day full of music and celebration (and good food!) - feedback already received has all been great. We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did!

Please don't forget that rehearsals start this week! 7.30pm, Wednesday in the church. We still have a lot to do in the next few weeks - I know it's been half term but numbers have been disappointing recently, at rehearsal and at mass. Please do try and come along.

This is our final batch of events before the long summer break - please come to all if you can.

A few announcements:

• Thank you for your patience and cooperation in the past few weeks when various members have been stranded abroad or had other prior engagements. Although we're now heading into summer, when I think many of us will have time off, it should be a little more settled in the coming weeks.

• Music for First Communions and Confirmations has been agreed and menus will be available shortly. Please note the following dates in your diaries: for First Communions - Sundays 16th, 23rd and 30th May at 10.30am; for Confirmations, Saturday 19th June.

• Rehearsals will take place for First Communions on Wednesdays 12th, 19th and 26th May and for Confirmations on Wednesdays 9th and 16th June, all at 7.30pm in the Church. There are currently no rehearsals planned for 28th April, 5th May or 2nd June.

• Four members of the choir and a sprinkling of parishioners have joined St George's College Choral Society to sing Mozart's Requiem. Please come along to what promises to be a great performance of a wonderful work, with the massed school choirs and professional orchestra and soloists - Sunday 9th May at 8.00pm in the College Chapel.

To all the choir and musicians:

From Paul, Fr Tom, Gerard and myself, a massive thank you and congratulations for your hard work over Easter. It's always a bit of a marathon, starting with rehearsal on Wednesday and followed by the three wonderful services of the Triduum and finishing with the almost riotous Easter Sunday morning mass!

This year has genuinely been one of the best yet in so many ways - musically, liturgically and spiritually - and the feedback from the parish has been excellent. None of this would have been achievable without your enthusiasm and support.

Now we have a well-earned rest - while weekend singing continues there are no rehearsals in the month of April - but I'm sure we'll see each other socially at some point for tea and cakes! Watch this space for a date. Next up we have the First Communions (May) followed by our Deanery Confirmations (June).
